The Basic Medical Experimental Teaching Center of Capital Medical University was established in 2005. In 2007, it was approved as a demonstration center for experimental teaching in universities in Beijing. In 2012, it was certified as a national level demonstration center for basic medical experimental teaching. In 2023, it was awarded the title of Excellent Undergraduate Teaching Laboratory in Beijing's higher education institutions. The center is a first level independent teaching institution affiliated with the School of Basic Medicine of Capital Medical University. It consists of four laboratories: Medical Morphology, Medical Function, Medical Biology, Pathogenic Biology and Immunology. The Medical Morphology Laboratory is a fusion of teaching laboratories in human anatomy, histology and embryology, and pathology; The Medical Functional Laboratory is a fusion of teaching laboratories in Physiology, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology; The Medical Biology Laboratory is a fusion of teaching laboratories in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and medical genetics; The Laboratory of Pathogenic Biology and Immunology is a fusion of teaching laboratories in human parasitology, medical microbiology, and medical immunology.
The experimental teaching center currently has a usable area of over 5000 square meters, with more than 7000 sets of instruments and equipment, and a total fixed asset value of over 80 million yuan. The Experimental Teaching Center is equipped with advanced experimental instruments and equipment for experimental teaching, and applies modern teaching methods such as digital network technology, virtual technology, and microscopic interactive technology to experimental teaching, greatly improving the level of experimental teaching.
The Experimental Teaching Center currently has 41 full-time staff members, including 2 professors, 8 associate professors, and 5 senior laboratory technicians. The center conducts practical teaching through a combination of full-time and part-time teaching staff, with more than 140 part-time personnel from various departments of the college and affiliated clinical hospitals.
The Experimental Teaching Center currently undertakes experimental teaching tasks for more than 20 majors, including graduate and undergraduate students. Set subject courses at different levels according to different teaching objects. The Experimental Teaching Center breaks the traditional disciplinary boundaries and creates a comprehensive experimental curriculum system covering all disciplines of basic medicine, consisting of four modules and five independent core courses. In terms of teaching mode, the Experimental Teaching Center retains some basic experiments in the experimental courses, and adds interdisciplinary integrated experiments with human anatomy, clinical diseases, and life science issues as the main line, as well as student self-designed and innovative experiments. Relying on the national level experimental teaching demonstration center platform, with multiple provincial and ministerial level experimental teaching projects as the promotion point for educational reform, the center's teachers have recently opened interdisciplinary experimental courses such as "Basic Medical Comprehensive Experiment", actively promoting the digital construction of experimental teaching resources, relying on smart teaching tools, and using advanced teaching methods to achieve the integration of in class and out of class, online and offline, fully mobilizing students' initiative in learning, and continuously improving the quality of experimental teaching.
